Today, many media companies go with the flow of social-media sites, along with traces of Facebook and Twitter success. One of them that is on the rise is Tumblr. Tumblr, a company based in New York City is claimed to have reached 6.6 million users. “I see this as a new way to communicate to our users in new ways,” said Mark Coatney, as quoted by the New York Times, Monday (07/02/2010).

Coatney said, when on Twitter, which was found mostly in the form of feedback re-Tweet, while at Tumblr communication claimed that lasted more pronounced. Evidence from Tumblr own credibility is joining Newsweek, one of the big media companies in the U.S.. Over the past few months, several other major media also said it has joined with Tumblr. Some of them are The Atlantics, Rolling Stone, Blackbook Media Corporation, The Paris Review & Life Magazine.

Mark Coatney Tumblr describes as ‘the space between Twitter & Facebook’. This site allows users to upload pictures, videos, audio clips and quotes on their pages.

As in Twiter, the user could follow other users, with postings that appear on the home page dashboard. The user can identify if they like an item, they can click on the Red Heart button or “re-blogging”. “People create their identity and personalization on Tumblr. This is not yet implemented by Facebook and Twitter,” said Mark Coatney. “We can include essays, photos or slide-show that can not be read in a magazine by the public”, says Alexa Cassanos, Director of Public Relations for The New Yorker.
